  My advice is rent from a reputable company. they will have cars you reserved available. the cars will be in better conditions. employees will be better trained to guide you through the full rental process.

  If you really want to rent from them, I would take multiple pictures with your iphone of outside and inside of the car. Email them, cc yourself, maybe even cc your family & friends, the pictures as copies before you take the car out of their lot. Don't rely on them, because they sure ain't looking out for you or your best interest.
  
  What happened to me?
  
  I reserved a mid-size sedan. came to pick up. they didn't have it. instead they offered me a lesser, damaged hatchback compact car for the same price. they told me to come back in 2 days to exchange, they will have one available. this was a really beat up car, over 15-20 dents and scratches, missing parts.
  
  came back 2 days later, they did not have my mid-size car available. but i was able to exchanged to a compact sedan. they skipped a lot of procedure and didn't even let me to mark the damages on the exchanged car. Just gave me a copy and said done. I didn't speak up much, because the car looked in better shape. There was only a small crack, a size of a dime, on the passenger-side window. Who knew that crack would have came back to bite me, or I wouldn't have let it slide.
  
  when i came back to return the car, they charged me hundreds of dollars for that small window crack. I told them that the small crack was already. they said it was my responsibility to make sure that their employee have me to fill out the damage report. I wanted to catch my flight. I agreed to pay for existing window crack. It wasn't worth my time and effort to argue with them. I made a small comment to them since I was kind of upset. i told them that i hope they can fix this window crack before renting it out to the next customer.
  
  they instantly went berserk from my comment, got really offended and started yelling at me. they said that they would never rent out that car with a small crack in the window. well, not sure how that made any sense, because they just rented it to me. They are nice guys. i didn't want to intensify the situation, and i could see that they were really upset. i apologized to them, and they calmed down. yes, very rare will you see a customer apologize to an upset employee.
  
  The company itself is terribly managed. Even though I was unlucky, it was kind of lucky the car only had a window crack. It could have been worse.
  
  you can take a chance and maybe you might have a pleasant and safe experience with Atwest rent a car, but there is a high chance that you won't (based on these reviews).
  
  this was the lesson i had to learn myself.
